"Changing The Face Of Our Community, One Young Person At A Time"

Urban Christian Ministries relies upon its army of volunteers in every aspect of ministry. They are usually 17 years and older, with senior citizens receiving a special welcome, as they bring a wealth of experience to our young people.

We request that volunteers share career, profession, hobby, or teach a specialized skill. They assemble a quarterly newsletter, pack food bags, sort clothing, tutor during homework time, answer phones, counsel at camp, etc.

Volunteers also come from city and suburban schools, churches, high schools, college community service programs, Mayor Summer Youth Program, and Community Sentencing Program.

Volunteers are vital at Christmas holidays as U.C.M. is a News Neediest distribution site for three successive days. Along with the News Neediest bags, our clients receive donated linens, blankets, additional food bags, and paper products. We also host a Christmas Party for 300 plus people while serving food and approximately 100 dozen Christmas Cookies made and served, with love, by our special volunteers.

U.C.M. serves a turkey dinner to approximately 110 women at the Erie County Correctional Facility in December of each year. All the food is cooked and served by our Auxiliary members.
